Guidelines
In accordance with Chapter 174.05 and 174.07 of the Wisconsin statutes, rabies vaccinations are required for all dogs aged 4 months or older, and licenses are required for all dogs 5 months or older. The Town of Dayton is the government body that is responsible for issuing dog licenses and checking on rabies vaccination compliance.
Dog Licensing Procedures
You must obtain a dog license annually through the Town of Dayton treasurer. You can do this in-person at the Town Hall or through the mail by submitting the required form. Proof of rabies vaccination will be required for first-time applications, and also when a rabies vaccination update was required after the dog license was issued the previous year. Licenses for the entire year are issued from January 1 through March 31 of each year.
Dog Licensing Fees
The fee for a dog license is $10 with a $5 discount if the dog has been spayed or neutered. License Payments are to be made with a separate check payable to the Town of Dayton. You may drop your renewal information at the town hall or mail your payment to: Town of Dayton E620 Mynard Rd, Waupaca WI 54981. ALL DOG LICENSE RENEWALS MUST INCLUDE A SELF-ADDRESSED STAMPED ENVELOPE.
Penalties
A late fee of $5 will be assessed an owner who fails to obtain a dog license before April 1. An owner who fails to have a dog vaccinated against rabies may be required to forfeit not less than $50 nor more than $100.
