Wanted to reach out to all of you and let you know that I have resigned as Town Clerk. First of all, I am not sick, everything is fine. It was with mixed emotions that I submitted my resignation to the board the end of September. I have been doing this job for almost 30 years! So many things have changed since Alice Hansen recruited me to take minutes and pay a few bills. It has been an honor to be the Clerk for the Town of Dayton and to serve the citizens of this wonderful community. I have been blessed to have worked with so many great people and to have met many of Dayton residents.
Wanda Hiltgen, whom the board hired as deputy clerk in June, was appointed the town clerk Monday, October 24th. She will finish out my term which ends in April 2023. Since June Wanda has been working with me learning the position along with doing a lot of required training. She has completed the Clerks training, Chief Inspection Training, and is in the middle of training on the WisVote System. I have agreed to become deputy clerk and will continue to work with her, serve the people of Dayton and make this transition as smooth as possible.
I am excited for Wanda as I know she will be an excellent clerk bringing new ideas and processes to the table.
Thank you for putting your trust in me for so many years.
