Town of Dayton

Digging Permit

Before digging for any purpose, it is important to avoid underground hazards such as gas lines and electrical lines.  Anyone in Wisconsin who is digging, excavating or disturbing the soil is required by law to contact Digger’s Hotline at least three working days before beginning work.  Digger’s Hotline is a free service.  Someone will come to your property and use flags to mark the approximate location of underground hazards.  You can learn more about Digger’s Hotline on the internet.  When you see the flags, you are ready to dig.

Digging, tunneling, boring, excavating or otherwise altering the town road right of way requires a Town of Dayton permit.
